Over the years he has become the Island's only PADI Star Gold Palm Dive Operation, boasting a very loyal following of divers who return year after year and continually welcoming new divers who come to visit for the first time. They have very few divers when compared to the other islands in the archipelago and this keeps the reefs healthy and the sea creatures curious, making them excellent photographic subjects. Turtles, dolphins, sharks and rays are a few of the favourite subjects. Gorgeous soft and hard corals abound and the macro life is some of the best in the world. Reefs start at 30 feet, walls plunge to 7,000 and the wreck of an 18th century British war ship provides spectacular photographic opportunities in only 40 ft. of water. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE CAICOS ISLANDS SOUTH CAICOS DIVERS Salt Cay Divers (above) also operates as South Caicos Divers and - weather permitting - runs day trips to the breathtaking walls of South Caicos, an island that has had a reputation for spectacular dive sites since the 1960's. The reefs start at about 50 ft resplendent with large tube and barrel sponges then become undersea walls that drop off vertically on most dive sites. South Caicos is definitely for the adventurous who can handle rustic accommodations but is known to have the largest marine animals in the Turks and Caicos, boasting squadrons of Spotted Eagle Rays as well as Black Tip Reef and Bull sharks. South Caicos is the center of the fishing industry and there are a lot of lobster and crab to photograph. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NORTH CAICOS BEACH CRUISER DIVE CHARTERS North Caicos is "The Garden Island:" of the Turks & Caicos and much of the underwater world on its north shore coast remains unexplored. There are huge coral hills 30 to 40 feet high, separated by tiny canyons and overgrown with soft corals within one-half to one mile offshore. Scuba diving, snokeling, fishing, private excursions and eco-tours can be arranged through Beach Cruiser, a small dive operation, the only one on North Caicos catering to a maximum of 6 divers.
